Director of Business Development
R&J Strategic Communications is seeking a Director of Business Development to help build and shape the future of our company. This is the perfect opportunity for an ambitious, strategic and fearless professional, since the Director of Business Development will be responsible for finding and pursuing potential clients for our full-service marketing communications agency. This role requires an individual who can combine a solid understanding of the marketing/public relations industry with creative selling skills to forge relationships with a wide variety of clients across various industry sectors.
The Work
- Work collegially with the agency’s Senior Management Team to develop and hone the agency’s business development strategy
- Research, identify and generate new business opportunities
- Develop relationships with and cultivate potential clients
- Manage new business pipeline and consistently update new business database
- Develop and maintain target lead list each quarter
- Prospect, develop relationships, and establish business
- Generate ongoing sales opportunities
- Clearly articulate the agency’s differentiators, benefits and advantages
- Take a leadership role in developing new business proposals and presentations
- Represent the agency at industry and trade events
- Update all marketing materials in collaboration with agency’s staff
The Kind of Person We Are Looking For
- At least 3 years of sales experience, preferably in an agency and/or corporate public relations/marketing communications setting
- Strong business development and prospecting skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively articulate ideas to clients, colleagues and others
- Entrepreneurial drive and track record of personal initiative and professional growth
- Possess a professional and positive demeanor
- Excellent presentation skills
- Detail oriented
- Positive, proactive, works well in team environment
- Degree in Public Relations, Communications or Marketing is desired
